Monahan (D. Leo) is born in South Boston.
1908
The son of a printer for the Boston Transcript, D. Leon Monahan begins work as an office boy at the Boston Daily Record in 1919. He subsequently becomes a reporter, sportswriter and columnist for the Record-American, Herald American, Sports Illustrated and Sporting News, and covers the Boston Bruins from 1948 to 1990. Monahan dies at his home in Belmont on March 27, 2013, and is buried in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watertown.
